This project turned into much more than we expected.  This is primarily because we stepped in after the original excavation company stepped out of it when it was discovered that the entire project had been built 6" too low.  We don't know why the original contractor didn't want the job, but we took over.  We had to pull about 2/3 of  the storm sewer out that they had installed in order to put a slope on it that would raise it up to match the existing curb outlet.  It was a muddy mess when we started (see pic).  Once the storm sewer had been corrected, we moved on to finish grading for curb, gutter and sidewalk, then asphalt (see pics).  In the course of this work, we found several more busts in elevations including the entire drive lane at the back of the building being nearly a foot off from matching anything surrounding it.  When we took on the project, we were told the pond was already close to the dimensions it was supposed to be, but when we had it staked, its slopes on two sides were 2'-3' off.  It was another change order on an already heavily encumbered project, but we took care of it as quickly as we could(see pics).  Once the pond was properly shaped up, we graded for the trickle channel and overflow weir (see pic).  

When we took over this project, we only had the storm sewer staked.  In retrospect, it would have been worthwhile to have everything lightly staked so we could evaluate the accuracy of the heavily revised plans to correct for the 6" bust as well as checking the work of the previous contractor.  We knew we were walking in to a mess, but in the future we will take steps to verify just how much of a mess it might be!
