Scope Of Work

Opened in 2021, the North Buffalo Health Services Building is a 32,000-square-foot facility which provides nearby families and communities with affordable healthcare and dental services as well as pharmacy and durable medical equipment. The state-of-the-art medical office space delivers care from People Inc., Evergreen Health, ECMC Dental, and People First Mobility.

The Health Services Building provides an innovative system for medical physicians, nurse practitioners, clinical support staff and social workers to work as a team and provide a coordinated approach to health care delivery integrating behavioral health. Collectively, the facility has the capacity to provide services to over 7,000 patients with lower waitlist times at a single, highly accessible site with abundant patient parking and a designated drop-off under a porte-cochère.

All patients and visitors enter the Health Services Building through a spacious main entrance into a main reception area. This centralized approach enables the staff to direct patients to multiple services for a holistic experience. The interior finishes use calming colors and earthy tones to exude a comfortable vibe which is complimented by stone and natural finishes. To assist with wayfinding and sense of place, each division has its own accent color and there are different finishes to distinguish between common areas and exam rooms.

The new medical hub champions improved health outcomes by delivering core services including internal medicine; audiometry; neurology; speech, physical and occupational therapies; pediatric and adult medicine; social work; behavioral health; counseling and podiatry. The facility features 22 exam rooms, more than double the previous site’s 10 rooms, as well as four treatment rooms for primary and specialty care. The new facility also features a new dental clinic and pharmacy for a full range of health services seamlessly under one roof.

The new ECMC Dental clinic will provide dental care, a much sought after service and significant need for people with developmental disabilities. A special lift mechanism enables the dental team to treat patients with mobility challenges by safely tilting the wheelchair for easier oral access. A special wheelchair clinic, run by People Inc. subsidiary People First Mobility, provides durable medical equipment and readily available access for assessments and specialty equipment for patients.
