Scope Of Work

Situation

Cancer Treatment Centers of America (CTCA) acquired a pre-existing community hospital facility in 2005, making it the first CTCA hospital on the east coast. That is when JJ White was brought in to upgrade and replace full Mechanical Systems as well as construct Guest Suites, Labs, PET, Infusion Labs, and Angio Suite.

Challenges

In addition to developing and following all the necessary infection control precautions necessary for a hospital treating high-risk patients, the hardest part about the completion of this project was coordinating the man power, along with subcontractors and vendors. This project presented a logistical and security nightmare, and at the same time challenged us to gain the Client’s trust to allow JJ White access to work in certain areas of the hospital.

Solution

The JJ White crew instituted procedures such as security badges, construction entrance, offsite parking, and all site visits and deliveries had to sign-in at the main entrance to be escorted in. The new infrastructure was staged, so there was an overlap of work and the same crew could move from one project to the other.

Results

The project was successfully and safely completed on-time and on-budget. Our JJ White crew not only did the work but managed all other trades in the buildings as well.
