Scope Of Work
The San Ysidro Land Port of Entry (LPOE), Phase 3 project in San Diego, CA is designed to address the travel delays due to increased traffic volume in the busiest land port in the world.
This project is being completed as an internal joint venture of Atkinson and Clark. Southbound, the team will expand I-5 from five to ten lanes, fabricate and install ten new inspection booths, construct new southbound primary and secondary vehicle inspection canopies and a 562-car employee parking structure, and build access roadways through the LPOE to and from Mexico. Northbound, the team will expand the northbound primary vehicle inspection canopy, and build eight additional lanes with 15 new inspection booths.
Performing work at the busiest border crossing in the world comes with some inherent challenges. The team will take extra measures to plan, prioritize, and execute the work in close coordination with Customs and Border Protection to ensure security is maintained at all times.
The project is designed to achieve LEED® Platinum certification and will feature photovoltaic panels and 450 geothermal wells, which will supplement the campus’ existing HVAC system.
