Scope Of Work
The Rosslyn Station Access Improvements project opened a second entrance to the Rosslyn Metro station, serviced by three high-speed elevators that can deliver passengers from the street level to the platform - 110 feet below - in just 20 seconds. The project team also installed a new mezzanine area to improve passenger flow and emergency
evacuation stairs.
The team self-performed the support of excavation work and cast-in-place concrete work. Atkinson's Underground Division handled the drill and blast mining for the shaft and mezzanine tunnel.
Arlington County managed the design and construction of the Rosslyn Station Access Improvement project in coordination with the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) and the JBG Companies, the developer of Rosslyn Central Place, a future project directly above the Rosslyn station.
The project was completed on time and within budget.
