Our Story
Pavement Maintenance, Inc. believes that the best approach in the construction industry is to do a few things – and do them well. For years, PMI has striven to provide the best in asphalt paving and related services in the Southwest Florida area. Customers and outside observers routinely comment on the attention to detail and overall quality our personnel provide.
We understand that the level of quality is not just a reflection on our company, but also on our customers. The asphalt surface on roadways and parking lots is one of the last, and most visible, portions of any sitework project. PMI makes the extra effort to build an asphalt surface that is structurally sound and aesthetically pleasing for the project owner. This helps our construction clients present an overall quality product which will pay dividends for them in the future.
ASPHALT PAVING
The largest and most visible portion of our business is asphalt paving. We at PMI have been providing asphalt paving services for our site construction, property management, and private customers over the course of many years.
The corporate environment enjoyed at PMI has resulted in the acquisition and retention of many of the best asphalt paving technicians in the business today. This brings a level of quality workmanship to our projects that is not often seen in this area. The result is a job built right the first time, with fewer punch list items to worry about.
PMI normally applies an asphalt surface onto base courses prepared by our sitework construction clients. We also can provide prime coat applications prior to paving, if desired by the customer. A truck-distributed sand layer can follow, allowing the contractor continued access to his project if paving is scheduled for a later date.
Our field supervisors will inspect the surface and consult with the contractor prior to priming and paving to ensure there are no impediments to achieving a quality job. We also perform many second-lift applications for existing parking lots and roadways.
Our company is appropriately sized to quickly respond to customers of all types. Many property management companies utilize our pavement repair services at apartments, condominiums, commercial parks and residential subdivisions throughout Southwest Florida. Whether a patch is needed due to damaged asphalt or from utility installations, PMI will provide quality repairs at competitive prices.
ASPHALT MILLING
PMI maintains dedicated asphalt milling crews to provide services for area paving contractors. Currently, two Wirtgen W1220F 4-foot milling machines are employed throughout local highway projects such as the I-75 expansion, as well as many commercial jobs. The 4-foot milling width of the machines allows access to many areas that larger machines find difficult or impossible to mill, while still providing high production for roadway operations.
PULVA MILLING
Increasingly, new construction projects in Southwest Florida are occurring on previously developed sites. There are many situations involving existing paved surfaces where excavating and off-site hauling of asphalt is necessary. This procedure is often time consuming, and can be costly.Pulver-mixing, an in-situ mixing process, is a cost-effective alternative to traditional excavation of asphalt surfaces. Our specialized mixing process can break up and blend existing asphalt, base, and subbase materials into a uniform mixture, suitable for reuse as a base or subgrade. The process generates an aggregate size no larger than 3?, allowing fine grading and compaction equipment to work immediately. Our process is capable of mixing at depths to 18 inches below existing grade.
This method is ideal for utility contractors who need to restore pipelines beneath existing roadways, as it completely removes the need for scraping and off-site haul of asphalt. Grading and compaction times are also reduced, which saves additional money.Other benefits will include a smaller construction ?footprint.? No on-site stockpile area is needed to temporarily store broken asphalt; and, pulver-mixing requires fewer pieces of equipment and no haul trucks. Also, pulver-mixing helps with dust abatement, which can be a serious problem in projects where roadway demolition is required.
