Scope Of Work
North Point Builders the Design-Build contractor for the Hereford Library in Baltimore County. The library experienced a flood due to a water pipe break on the vacant second floor. The flooding event closed the library to local patrons of the northern Baltimore County area. Due to the rural location of this library, it was critical to Baltimore County and the community to accelerate the reconstruction process. North Point Builders was contracted to expedite the program development, design, permitting, and construction.
During program development, Baltimore County decided to take advantage of this opportunity to provide a much-needed expansion. The decision was made to renovate both floors of the building, doubling library space.
The 15,000 square foot design features customized library shelving, furniture, self-checkout machines, a computer lab with a 3D printer for public use, personal laptop docking locations, community meeting rooms, quiet study areas, children’s learning center, and a collaborative art/maker space called “The Hive.”
The remodeling process involved a complete interior demolition of both floors, the addition of an interior staircase and elevator, a new entrance, exterior stairwell and walkway repairs, a new roof, and a complete overhaul to all plumbing, mechanical and electrical systems.
