Scope Of Work
North Point Builders was the Design-Build Contractor for the interior and exterior renovation of the Howard County Senior Center in Ellicott City, Maryland. The Howard County Senior Center was initially constructed in 1995 to serve the increasing Senior population in the Ellicott City area. After 10 years of wear and tear, the original facility was in need of interior and exterior improvements to accommodate the new Senior Plus program. The members of the Senior Plus program require additional care, specifically assistance with mobility. Throughout the design phase, North Point Builders, the Design Team, and the Howard County Department of Aging worked together to develop a safe, comfortable, and modernized environment for the senior community.
The 15,000 square foot facility offers a relaxing atmosphere and has helped establish many programs for participants in the local area. During 90 days of the building process, the Senior Programs were moved off campus to install plumbing systems and special epoxy floors. The interior space includes a lobby, offices, rest areas, workout center, open seating eating rooms, game rooms, commercial kitchen, and craft rooms.
Construction of the exterior included multiple entry modifications with ADA compliant design features. The covered porch was upgraded to include additional columns and rails and a new climate controlled entry point. These features contribute to the comfort and safety of the participating members.
