Scope Of Work

At PolySeal Coating Solutions, we provide customized concrete, coating, sealing, and polishing services for a wide array of industrial and commercial applications. The project highlighted here was completed for a customer in the retail industry who is located in Irving, Texas. The customer wished to replace the existing 10,000 sq.ft. of flooring surface, which consisted of carpet and tile, with a hard flooring option. However, due to the fact that the concrete had a high moisture emission rate, many traditional options such as standard coatings or vinyl composition tile (VCT) were not feasible. These options are non-permeable and would have trapped moisture between the slab and flooring, creating appearance and structural issues. We developed a custom solution that entailed the removal of the existing flooring, surface repair, and polishing of the concrete to provide an attractive and low maintenance surface.

Providing a polished concrete finish for a floor which has been bonded with glue and mastic can be very challenging. Aggressive tools must be used to remove the adhesives, while taking care to minimize damage to the concrete surface. PCD tooling was used to remove the bulk of the glue before three cuts were performed with 30, 70, and 100 grit bonds, respectively. The floor was sealed with a high gloss LS Guard sealer which penetrates the concrete and adds to the floor’s abrasion resistance while providing an attractive finish. This project spanned a total of 5 days.
