Scope Of Work

Mass. Electric Construction Co. (MEC) was the electrical subcontractor on the Sugar Land Surface Water Treatment Plant Project. Located on a 40-acre greenfield site, regulatory mandates from county and state levels required the City of Sugar Land and seventeen surrounding municipalities to provide 30% of the water supply from surface sources by 2016.

The new plant, completed in 2014, provides residents a water blend ratio of 30% surface to 70% groundwater. The new water treatment plant utilizes surface water from nearby Oyster Creek, an offshoot of the Brazos River, to produce nine million gallons of potable water per day. The completed plant is the largest capital improvement project ever for the City.

MEC installed all power & lighting for the new plant, as well the following:

instrumentation & controls

electrical equipment

lightning protection

communication & SCADA systems

grounding & terminations

manholes

conduit & duct banks

medium & low voltage cabling

junction boxes

cathodic protection

security & fire alarm systems

low voltage switchboards & medium voltage manual switches
