Scope Of Work

Historic Renovation of the Darius B Moon House Porch, and Addition of New Rear Porch. 

Prior to construction there were quite a few questions when we found a full basement under the front porch! Upon further investigations we were informed this home had been moved to save it from demolition in the 1970s by a group of preservation minded Lansing Residents, and the original foundation was built at the perimeter of the porch; which ultimately left a couple dozen feet of the exterior wall of the home unsupported. Some years after that a new wall was eventually installed and the house was properly supported once again. However, there was still a basement under the porch; which took some creative work by the owners to keep the water controlled that would come in through the porch floor. 

This wasn't the end of the porch issues though, once we removed the existing deck we could see just how bad of shape that original block wall was in; and ultimately as a team decided it had to be replaced entirely. This lead us to utility delays and further plan review by the city, but ultimately allowed us to be sure that the foundation at the DBM house would be intact for years to come.

All said and done this project turned out to be a wonderful one for CBS, in which a lot of the credit goes to the amazing owners who have made it a life priority to care for this historic property.
