Scope Of Work

1435 Burlingame:

This reinforced concrete building is an excellent example of streamline modern architecture, also known as Art Deco. It is listed on the Historic Inventory of the City of Burlingame as a First Priority Site. The two-story north façade that fronts onto Burlingame Avenue is punctuated by steel sash windows and is clad with travertine marble panels. Flanking the monumental, two-story central entrance are tall planters surfaced with green marble. The entrance opening terminates in a rolled bas-relief carving. Window openings also have rolled travertine lintels. Positioned over the entrance doors is a semi-circular flat canopy.

ARG Conservation Services provided the client with a survey of their building, detailing repairs that should be made. From the survey, the client decide what work needed to be fixed.  ARG/CS washed the exterior of the travertine panels. After cleaning, they pined 26 panels, repaired cracks, repointed joints, and patched 16 holes in the stone. They also had to remove and reset 3 marble panels.
