Scope Of Work
IBM initiated this project to upgrade the capacity of their aging B009 data center in Boulder, Colorado. This data center was built in a former storage , as the space was slowly repurposed from a to data center, more more chilled lines were run from the joists to feed new CRAC units until the load became too much for the structure to support. Throughout construction, the data center remained operational. This project also involved:
Replacement of the end-of-life UPS-A system
Removal of three 1750 KW generators
Additional UPS
Two power distributionunits
Seven static transfer switches on the raised floor
Working within an active data center approaching end-of-life requires a tremendous amount of planning coordination to protect the client’s loads. Each shutdown was meticulously thought out regarding switching procedures order of operations prior to performing work.
