Scope Of Work
The parking garage at the Oregon Convention Center is directly adjacent to the new LEED Gold Hyatt Regency at the Oregon Convention Center. The structure is a 175,000 square foot concrete building that includes 447 parking spaces and 100 bicycle spaces. The garage is the first Parksmart certified garage in Oregon. Parksmart (formerly known as Green Garage) is the only green building rating system for garages, and is administered by the Green Business Certification Inc. (GBCI). GBCI is the same organization that oversees LEED building certifications. The 447 spaces in the parking garage are shared between Metro users, visitors of the retail spaces on the lower levels, and guests of the Hyatt Regency hotel. The structure offers 14,000 square feet of commercial lease space.
Some sustainability features in the garage include:
EV charging stations
Preferred parking for low emitting and fuel efficient vehicles, and alternative fuel fehicles
Uses environmentally safe cleaning practices and materials for decks and security office
Implemented internal and external wayfinding strategies to reduce time drivers spend idling both looking for the parking garage and for open parking spaces
Implemented strategies to increase traffic flow and reduce time idling/waiting to exit garage during normal operations and periods of heavy traffic/events
Houses electric ZipCar vehicles
The garage operator (City Center Parking AKA REEF Parking) uses electric fleet vehicles for garage maintenance and security
All non-commodity products in the garage such as receipt paper, office supplies and paper towels are all either recycled or locally sourced
75% of all construction waste was diverted from landfill
Energy efficient lighting controls and lighting system, ventilation systems (designed for natural ventilation)
Houses a tire inflation station free of use for patrons
Holds 100 bike parking spaces in safe/secured area
Reduces time drivers spend idling paying for parking by having pay-on-foot stations
