Dowland Contracting Ltd.

Dowland Contracting Ltd was established in 1983, when an energetic and entrepreneurial Guy Pemberton saw a need to provide construction services in the Beaufort Delta area. This included construction support for Oil and Gas exploration and infrastructure work for the Government of the Northwest Territories. Over time, the small construction business evolved from a company that built a water treatment plant in the remote community of Tuktoyaktuk, Northwest Territories into a full service construction firm. Dowland became the benchmark for building in the north because of its arctic expertise. In addition, Dowland’s experience working with all levels of government, aboriginal and other private clients across the North American Arctic solidified its position as the industry leader North of 60.

Joined in 2003 by Patrick McGuinness, the company continued to build on is northern roots and strategically built a reputation for understanding and supporting local culture. Today, with head offices in Inuvik and Edmonton as well as a diverse team of more than 450, Dowland has expanded to become the builder of choice for industrial, commercial, institutional and infrastructure building from coast to coast to coast.
