Scope Of Work
MFS Construction (MFS) was contracted by the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) to provide Design/Build services in support of renovation work required to upgrade the site security at the South Bronx Job Corps Center. The project goals included replacing the site paving and creating a clear separation of the vehicular and pedestrian traffic at the Center, enhancing security for the Center overall by constructing a new security entrance in the school building, upgrading the perimeter fencing, providing controlled access at all entry and exit points on site, and providing a new handicapped accessible outdoor lift.
MFS managed the project from the initial design concept to the construction’s completion. The team utilized past experience and expertise in renovations, sitework, and security to reduce the overall project schedule by accelerating the project’s design and construction phases. MFS was responsible for professional administration of architectural and engineering services during the pre-construction, and handled all contract administration, cost management, risks, and provided inspection and reports of work in progress.
During the construction phases of the project, MFS was responsible for all project management, construction, quality, and scheduling. The team provided full time, on-site certified personnel to perform functions such as record keeping, schedule monitoring, document control, financial management, claim & dispute management, construction inspections, safety monitoring and closeout/ commissioning. MFS frequently administered bi-weekly progress meetings with the DOL, Job Corps Center, and subcontractors to ensure timely and economical progression of the project.
