Scope Of Work
Lawton Public Schools chose Crossland Construction to build a brand new middle school for the Lawton community. This school is a unique project because it was built in between the two original school buildings, with plans to demolish them once complete.
The 154,000 SF construction offered more to the community than ever before. With two gymnasiums, a 1,600+ seat auditorium, a safe room equipped for all students and staff, 65+ classrooms, and a large courtyard, two parking lots, two soccer fields, and one practice football field, this school left nothing to dream of.
Composed of structural steel and CMU block, this solid building was also surrounded by a brick veneer with stone wainscoting around the entire perimeter. We installed custom details including lighted columns, terrazzo flooring, and colored acoustical baffles.
Our team faced many challenges throughout this project. The location of the build was in a low-lying area that flooded each time it rained. This posed a continuous challenge to the construction of the building. We decided to move forward with the addition of a 30 FT-wide road to keep the progress moving.
Despite 75+ working days of bad weather, our team rose to the challenge, finishing the job both on time and within budget. The school opened in time for the Fall 2020 season, filled with school spirit. Go Vikings!
