Scope Of Work
More than 5 million visitors each year enter St. Patrick’s Cathedral in City–some to pray or attend mass, others simply to experience a Neo-Gothic masterpiece. A landmark this significance requires careful preservation met with equally sensitive aesthetics.
Duggal Visual Solutions had the honor helping to bring a subtle tinge innovation to obscure the scaffolding in place for construction a glass wall at the Lady Chapel. Duggal’s Yvon Varunok partnered with the Trustees St. Patrick’s Cathedral and the creative communications agency, DBOX, in producing an 11-foot-wide, 23-foot-high mesh banners hung between the columns behind the high altar.
Duggal developed a soft frame of straps around all four sides of the piece to anchor and achieve a perfect balance of vertical and horizontal tension for a smooth, seamless appearance. The column straps were camouflaged by sleeves printed in the church’s stone pattern from the center of the image, visually disappearing while providing additional protection for the column surface.
As St. Patrick’s Cathedral had just completed an extensive interior restoration, Duggal took extra care to ensure no blemish or damage is left when the banner is removed.
