Scope Of Work

Robinson Construction was awarded the $4.7M contract to provide construction services on the Grand Prairie Pumping Station project. Located approximately one hour East of Little Rock, the pumping station is a 1.06 billion gallons per day pumping station that provides a source for the continued irrigation of agricultural crops in the area by delivering water several miles from the White River to farms in the area. The project was broken down into three phases and Robinson was awarded Phase 1 of the project. Concrete work for the substructure had originally begun five years earlier with a different general contractor. The project was partially complete when the apparent rediscovery of the extinct ivory billed woodpecker caused the project to be cancelled. The site was then back flooded and sat idle for five years before the project was rebid. Robinson’s work on the project included finishing the partially constructed substructure, which included approximately 5400 cubic yards of concrete. The substructure measures 106 ft x 120 ft x 50 ft tall. The pump station is located within a previously constructed earthen cofferdam on the banks of the White River. The drainage area within the cofferdam was approximately 20 acres. Because the footprint of the pump station was relatively small and it was primarily vertical construction, a tower crane was utilized for hoisting.
