Scope Of Work
Robinson Construction was awarded two contracts by Kiewit Energy Company, for a total of $30.2 million, to serve as the design-build general contractor for the grain handling portion of two new 108 MMGY corn ethanol facilities, one located in Mt. Vernon, Indiana and the other in Aurora, Nebraska. The ethanol facilities are owned by Aventine Renewable Energy.
Both projects included construction of the following structures (including foundations):
Grain receiving building
Grain storage elevator tower
Grain storage silos – two (2) 300,000 bushel in Mt. Vernon and one (1) 511,000 bushel in Aurora
Mill building
MCC building
DDGS loadout buildings – one (1) truck loadout building & one (1) rail loadout building in Mt. Vernon and one (1) loadout building designed for both truck and rail loadout in Aurora
Numerous conveyor support trusses and towers
Underground concrete structures including: grain receiving pit, elevator, pit, transfer tunnel, and reclaim tunnel
Robinson also installed the following equipment on both projects: drag conveyors, belt conveyors, bucket elevators, baghouse filters, blowers, truck scales, rail scales, screw conveyors, hammer mills, dust collection piping, galvanized air piping, grain storage silos, grain hopper bins, grain hoppers and transitions, rotary scalpers, diverters, slide gates, weigh belt feeders, articulating arm loadout equipment, sump pumps, exhaust stacks, prefabricated control rooms, railcar safety gangway, transformers, switchgear, and MCCs.
