Scope Of Work
Robinson Construction was selected by Alltech as the design-build general contractor for their new distillery project - the first distillery to be built in Lexington in more than 100 years. The owners of Alltech had a clear vision for the facility and were intimately involved in all aspects of the design process to ensure that their vision was carried out. In addition, Robinson’s management team worked closely with Alltech project management to incorporate preferred local subcontractors into the project. Robinson coordinated the entire design process, made regular submittals to Alltech, and solicited numerous subcontractor prices for Alltech’s review, providing feedback on each one. The final design of the 20,000 square foot distillery featured a 9,000 square foot pre-engineered processing/manufacturing area with architectural sandwich panels and a 3,600 square foot glass curtain wall area to showcase two copper stills, two Cyprus wood open fermenters, and five stainless steel fermentation tanks. Kentucky limestone was used to compliment the glass curtain wall and achieve that traditional distillery look and feel. A full basement was included below the main distillery area to house the process piping and process tanks. Construction of the project, also completed by Robinson, included erection of the pre-engineered building and conventional steel building; installation of all process piping and equipment designed for the distilling process; installation of electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems; and all architectural finishes, sitework, and paving.
