Scope Of Work
SITUATION:
The Showa Boston Institute for Language and Culture selected BOND to build the new 42,000 SF International British School of Boston, a private school serving Pre-K through high school. The new facility features a library, computer and science labs, a gymnasium, a headmaster suite, and meeting and support spaces for 480 students.
CHALLENGES:
Sloped site required soil nailing
Active campus required safety logistics and mitigation
Neighboring buildings are occupied and functioning throughout construction
SOLUTIONS:
Additional training and safety measures utilized in construction of the building on a steep incline
Utilized extensive soil nailing and slope retention systems
Excavated 11,000 cubic yards of soil to assist in the development of the buildings footprint
Coordinated construction activities around school operations to minimize disruption
RESULTS:
Project completed in 13 months
No disturbance to the active campus during construction
New building delivers the British national curriculum to over 450 students
