Scope Of Work

Gilbane is providing preconstruction and construction management at-risk services for DC Bilingual Public Charter School’s Ward 5 campus. This phased and occupied modernization project includes a 27,000-SF addition to the existing building, which will expand DC Bilingual’s current campus to serve more than 700 students. Improvements and upgrades to the campus will include age-appropriate classrooms and furniture, an expanded gym and updated art and music spaces. New spaces will include science, culinary and computer labs, library space, breakout instruction areas and student support areas for intervention, testing and mental health.

This project will provide DC Bilingual students with improved spaces for indoor and outdoor play, featuring an expanded gym, outdoor playgrounds and covered play space. Flexible collaboration spaces will include a larger stage and retractable wall in the updated gym, indoor multipurpose areas and a variety of new workspaces for teachers and staff. The DC Bilingual project is targeting LEED Gold and will not only prioritize positive impacts on health and well-being but safety as well. Heightened security measures will include streamlined entry points, a new sidewalk around the parking lot perimeter and a new traffic pattern.
