Scope Of Work

SAI completed this $7.6M design-build project at Fort Drum, NY. The overall project included additions and renovations to the existing 24,000 sf Post Chapel, Child Care and Education Center. The scope of work included:

8,500 sf worship area addition

4,750 sf renovation to the existing worship area

3,900 sf religious education classroom addition

Upgrade of building sprinkler and fire alarm system

Prior to the start of work on the project the areas of the facility that were to remain occupied and in daily operation were partitioned and isolated from the work areas to prevent unauthorized assess as well as provide noise, temperature and dust control. Particular care was given to the work area access to prevent interaction between the building occupants (primarily children) and the workers, equipment and material movements during construction. Areas of the site including vehicle circulation, parking and vehicle drop-off areas were modified temporarily due to construction access and site areas impacted by the new building construction. Renovation areas required close coordination with the building User and advance notification and planning due to the sensitivity of the child care area and concern by parents during construction.
