Scope Of Work
The Department of Labor first recognized District Contracting Group on a previous competitive requirement which was not awarded. Yet because of the thoroughness and completeness of our bid, the Department of Labor’s Chief of Procurement decided to select District for this sole source, design build effort. This award is for the comprehensive design and renovation of the Wirtz Library within the Department of Labor’s Headquarters. This Library established in 1917 houses the most complete collection of historically significant resources pertaining to labor in the United States as well as the Portrait Collection. The scope of work was for complete select interior demolition; new finishes; demountable glass offices and meeting rooms; and MEP upgrades. District performed the finishing trades in-house to accelerate the schedule and complete the project within budget. District’s design exceeded LEED Certified status by incorporating the use of regionally sustainable materials, improving air quality; and waste management practices. This is the first comprehensive renovation of the Wirtz Library in decades and District is proud and honored to be charged with such a historically significant endeavor.
