Scope Of Work

District was sought by the Charles and Lynn Schusterman Family Foundation to manage the build out of their new Washington DC Headquarters for this Billion Dollar Philanthropic Foundation.  District vetted several design and MEP engineering firms through a qualifying exercise that required the short list of firms to submit proposals and design sketches based on design criteria that was crafted to very precise specifications and desires of the client. Using these designs, District then worked to preselect subcontractors to bid on this work. The client required a space that is cutting edge and lends itself to being open and airy, while incorporating very high-end finishes to showcase the organization at the highest of levels.  Finishes included wool flooring, 3-D feature wall panels, IdeaPaint wall surfaces, German crafted custom wallcovering, operable accordion glass wall systems, lighting automation and control systems, custom manufactured Italian light fixtures, and expansive uses of glass.  This $350 per-square-foot interiors project required 10 weeks of preconstruction to ensure a smooth and seamless construction performance of 11 weeks.

This project was LEED Gold certified and was the award winner of International Interior Design Association’s (IIDA) Best Project Under 20,000 square feet and an honorable mention award winner of the National Association of Industrial and Office Properties (NAIOP) Award for Best Interiors Under 10,000 square feet.
