Scope Of Work
The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center (UTSWMC) hired Vaughn to construct the first phase of its West Campus, as part of its 15-year master plan. To make way for the campus development, Vaughn demolished the 806,000 SF St. Paul’s Hospital using selective demolition and implosion.
Vaughn then constructed the 11-level, 300,000 SF academic/clinical building which features 50,000 SF of simulation space, operating rooms, specialty patient rooms, a clinical skills center, and robotics laboratories. The building includes shell space in which to centralize future ambulatory clinics. The project also included a 834-space, 425,500 SF parking garage and a 181-space surface parking lot adjacent to the facility.
The new facility provides the staff and students of UTSWMC with the latest technology and ample space to train the next generation of researchers and physicians to serve the Dallas community.
