Scope Of Work
The Baylor University Louise Herrington School of Nursing is ranked as one of the top 10 nursing programs in Texas. To meet the demand for nurses and accommodate the school’s growth, the university purchased a 112,000 SF office building. They hired Vaughn to convert the facility into a new, modern home for the nursing program.
the Baylor University Medical Center campus near downtown Dallas, the four-story facility features a soaring light-infused grand entry with floor to ceiling windows, marble columns, and a monumental open-concept stair that rises from the lobby up to Level Four.
Designed to create space for students to collaborate, the newly renovated facility includes updated elevator lobbies with students lounges on each floor. Level 1 is comprised of offices, testing space, common study rooms, a large multipurpose room, and a 250-seat auditorium to host speaking events. Level 2 is entirely devoted to teaching with four 120-seat capacity classrooms, and two 60-seat capacity classrooms. Levels 3 and 4 include faculty offices and lounges, and multiple conference rooms of varying sizes for consultations. The students have 24/7 access to a learning resource center in the basement with secured underground parking.
In addition to the comprehensive finish upgrades, Vaughn refurbished the elevators and upgraded the MEP systems including a new emergency generator to separate the facility from the adjacent campus power and four new air handling units. Vaughn performed extensive demolition on multiple floors to accommodate the new program spaces and the monumental stairs.
