Scope Of Work
The Mullan Contracting Company completed the 14,000 square foot expansion of the Whiteford Branch Library within a twelve month timeframe. The company was honored with an Award of Excellence from ABC Baltimore for this project.
The expansion incorporated an interactive children’s play theatre which simulates a small village under a canopy of leaves and includes a space for puppet shows and dress up performances. The teen’s area features new age-appropriate furniture, computer stations and a flat screen television set for group activities and programming. A 1,000 square foot community meeting room was also constructed.
The exterior of the library was improved by enlarging the surrounding parking lot, installing new site lighting, as well as the creating a storm water management system. Highlights of the interior portion included the installation of a modernized HVAC system and state-of the-art electrical package that both improve energy-efficiency.
The expansion more than doubled the size of the existing library, which was desperately needed due to the expanding population of the Harford County region.
