Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE)
Project Information
- Project Location:
- CA
- Status:
- Completed
- Structure Type:
- Non-Building Construction
Scope Of Work
Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) and NREL collaborated to create Peregrine, an ultra-efficient high-performance computer that uses warm water for cooling. The cooling process results in hot water coming from the supercomputer, which is captured and used for space heating.
Key Infrastructure and Services
Space to accommodate up to two 20-foot shipping containers or large commercial vehicles up to the size of a city bus
Bi-directional DC power stations up to 660 kW to accommodate battery cycling and battery emulation.
Large drive-in environmental chamber infrastructure (mechanical system buildout based on project needs)
Full suite of AC and DC Research Electrical Distribution Bus (REDB) connections
Advanced hardware-in-the-loop and model-in-the-loop simulation capabilities, including real-time digital simulator (RTDS) and Opal-RT racks
Robust safety design to handle many types of battery or energy storage systems
Thermal buses, natural gas, compressed air
