Scope Of Work
TriMet awarded the Willamette River Transit Bridge design-build contract to a Kiewit joint venture as a part of the Portland to Milwaukie TriMet Light Rail Program. The scope of work includes constructing a 1,720-foot-long, cast-in-place segmental cable-stayed bridge across the Willamette River. The bridge is designed to carry light rail trains, buses, pedestrians, and cyclists, and accommodate the expanding Portland Streetcar System if added in the future.
The bridge’s focal points are its two U-shaped, stay-cable towers. The 180-foot-tall towers sit on oval-shaped in-water piers, which together support 3.5 miles of stay-cable. Each oval-shaped pier is founded on six 10-foot-diameter drilled shafts.
