Scope Of Work
JE Dunn is currently constructing the IKEA retail store in Merriam, Kansas. This facility consist of 340,00-square-feet of retail space, 10,000-square-feet of parking, including one level under store building for a total of 350,000 square feet, a free-standing parking garage for approximately 400 cars and a truck loading dock. Functions within the facility include warehousing/stocking, customer self-service, product displays, restaurant, children’s play , and other areas for storage and sale of IKEA furniture and furnishing.
The store plans reflect the same unique architectural design for which IKEA stores are known worldwide. IKEA also will evaluate potential -site power generation to complement its current U.S. goal of renewable energy presence at nearly 90 percent of its U.S. locations. The project also includes a geo-thermal well field to the south of the building. Demolition of the existing building was part of the scope.
