Scope Of Work
Construction of a $2 million, 38,587 SqFt IBP (Iowa Beef Processing, Inc.) Material Handling Facility was designed and engineered in-house by PBG Builders. The scope includes installation of five, 7,000 pound, roof mounted mechanical units and extensive piping to maintain 28o refrigerated storage for finished beef and pork products. 40 ft joist bays were constructed on the ground and lifted into place. Panelizing the bays on the ground increases productivity and provides a safer working environment for welders.
The project was contracted on a design/build basis, giving PBG Builders responsibility for both engineering and construction, all under one umbrella contract. This method for construction delivery eliminates costly claims due to design errors, so common in the traditional design/bid/build approach.
