Scope Of Work
Boasting 230,000 sq. ft. of new construction and 150,000 sq. ft. of renovated space, the $102.5 million project includes demolition of a four-story tower in a century-old portion of the hospital called Prince 1 and replacing it with a new six-story, 64-bed patient tower.
Half of an adjacent six-story tower, also part of Prince 1, is being renovated, and a fourth floor is being added to the three-story Prince 2 building next door.
Forty-seven beds in outdated, undersized rooms will be demolished to make way for the new Prince 1 tower, which will include 32 acute and 32 intensive care beds, and another 25 converted from acute care to observation. The current 24-bed intensive care unit will be converted to administrative offices. Thirty-two beds will be added to the fourth floor of Prince 2.
In addition to the main objective of improving delivery of patient care and operational efficiency, the project will also Improve both vehicular and pedestrian circulation around campus and simplify patient arrival, wayfinding and access, and help Piedmont to fulfill its purpose and promise of making a positive difference in every life they touch.
The scope of work for the project includes:
Vacating Prince 1 tower.
Relocating clinical areas including a sleep lab, cardiac testing and respiratory therapy.
Demolition of Prince 1 Tower.
Construction of a new six-Level, 64-bed Prince 1 tower.
Renovations to an adjacent tower.
The addition of a fourth story to the Prince 2 building.
Repurposing the old ICU and other spaces for administration.
