Servant leadership has defined Bart Moore’s perspective, while fueling his passion for helping people and understanding their purpose. Moore’s tenure as President and CEO of Fabric Wallcraft of California, Inc. is due, in no small part, to his commitment to quality, his belief in empowering his employees and his dedication to establishing strong relationships with his clients and suppliers.
Every story of influence starts somewhere. Moore’s began in the service of his country. For three years, he proudly served in the United States Marine Corps, where he learned that loyalty, commitment, sacrifice and servant leadership were not just components of military service—they were the ingredients to a life well lived. Along the way, Moore’s mindset and work ethic positioned him to seek out a mentor. In time, Moore grew under the guidance of Floyd Baslow, founder of FabriTRAK® Systems, Inc., and together they would forever alter the landscape of architectural interiors in California.
The Birth of an Industry
Baslow’s vision was expansive. He patented a unique system that uses fabric and track to reduce noise and enhance interior wall and ceiling spaces in retail environments and businesses. After working with his mentor through the 1970s, Moore took inspiration from Baslow’s work on the East Coast by incorporating the elegant interior fabrics of France and applying the inspiration to the sound design market on the West Coast of the United States. While Baslow’s interpretation of the concept centered on two main components, fabric and track, Moore further developed upholstered wall coverings, enhancing the appearance, and controlling the acoustics and lighting within interior spaces. Initially, Baslow didn’t have much luck marketing his concept to homeowners. However, he was instrumental in establishing FabriTRAK dealers and installers in the U.S., like Fabric Wallcraft of California.
As Moore developed expertise alongside his mentor, he began to understand the potential of fabric and track when applied to the business of acoustics and sound design, and refined the concept to manage, enhance, direct, absorb and redefine sound. Under Moore’s guidance, Fabric Wallcraft of California became a significant player in architectural interiors and exteriors, where the interplay of sound, light and form could transform spaces, influencing the productivity, behavior and mindset of occupants in an environment.
Sound Relationships
At the same time, Moore’s belief in establishing relationships, retaining customers and providing the highest-quality solutions for interior and exterior architectural finishes allowed him to fulfill his own vision of providing professional customer service, while focusing on design that exceeded his clients’ expectations. Project by project, year after year, Moore’s insistence on an unparalleled attention to detail and craftsmanship lifted Fabric Wallcraft of California into becoming the sole licensed dealer and industry leader for the installation of interior and exterior high-end architectural fabrics in Southern California. Today, the company is 30 years young, renowned for its unique and creative solutions, and is a go-to favorite for architectural beautification in the region.

For more than three decades, the team has prided itself on listening intently. In fact, that’s the defining characteristic of their business, and is part of their tagline: Fabric Wallcraft of California, Inc., Your “Sound” Solution. “Studies have shown that acoustics, or lack thereof, directly affect our health, and are an important part of everyday life,” Moore explains. “Which means our job is to ‘listen’ to the best interests of the end-users and occupants of every space.”
By putting themselves in the position of the occupier of a space, Moore’s team of experts are at once the creators and consumers of every project. They identify with the client, manage sound and modify environments to enhance experience. In Moore’s perspective, this adds to one’s quality of life. “On the project priority spectrum, acoustics are either never considered or quickly cut from a project’s budget,” Moore says. “The building industry generally does not understand the value of acoustics.”
But the end-user does. Sound is as much a part of the environment as light and color. It is a vital component to one’s experience and helps determine how an environment unfolds for each user. We’ve all been places where acoustics were not taken into consideration: restaurants where sound bounces off surfaces and you can barely hear the person next to you; arenas where the sound of the performer gets lost in the crowd. The application and management of sound through acoustics is a beneficial service to those who occupy a space.
A Life Well Lived
Moore is no stranger to service. He continues to embrace a life of service by giving his time and talent to local causes, including serving as a board member/finance chairman for the San Juan Capistrano Historical Society.
But Moore says his greatest achievement has been “founding and operating a company that not only improves the quality of life for our customers, but for our employees as well. It makes me so proud to leave this company to my daughters as my legacy.”
It’s all a way of life for Moore, whose belief in the company, the product and the people have been the standard by which he measures his time and life. “I only have one life,” Moore explains. “So far, it’s been a long life lived. Even though I don’t plan on it being over yet, my time is limited! So, I’m motivated to make it count; make it count for my family, my sanity, my health and my legacy! How do I do that? By being unapologetically selfish with how I spend my time for the rest of my life, and eternally grateful for all of the time I’ve been able to spend so far in the life I’ve lived.”
A Way of Life
Clearly Moore is grateful for the abundance and for the journey. He continues to lead from the front, by example, showing others what it means to live a life dedicated to service, to cherish every moment, to be a man of character that others look up to and seek to emulate. By these standards, Moore has made Fabric Wallcraft of California more than a place to make a living. He has made it a platform for him and others to live their lives to the fullest.
Working for others allows him to enjoy his family and his team.
