Daniel P. Reynolds's Bio
Dan P. Reynolds is responsible for the firm’s Central/Midwest and Western/Southwest Divisions where his operational accountability includes profit and loss and ensuring the execution of the company’s ‘One Company’ vision, strategy and business plan. He is also accountable for strategic initiatives and project delivery programs including Lean, Advanced Planning & Scheduling and Quality.
With over 35 years’ experience in the construction industry, Dan previously served as a Division Chief Operating Officer and Senior Vice President with the Walsh Group. He has also worked for CH2M Hill, Mortenson Construction and Pizzagalli Construction Company. He brings an expertise and background in multiple building types and delivery methods that parallel and align with the core focus of Gilbane.
Dan earned his bachelor’s degree in construction technology from the University of Northern Iowa and has completed executive training at the University of Michigan’s Ross School of Business, University of Texas and Thunderbird University. As part of his commitment to operational excellence and ensuring customer advocacy, he is dedicated to a safe work environment and has worked with multiple project teams to achieve the Voluntary Protection Program’s Star Award, which is OSHA’s highest industry safety award.
Michael E. Mckelvy's Bio
Michael E. McKelvy is president and chief executive officer of Gilbane Building Company. He joined the company in 2014 as president and chief operating officer. He has spent his entire career in the architecture and construction industry, bringing a broad-based background in both domestic and international markets, and vertical and horizontal construction. He has construction experience worldwide in more than 20 countries and expertise in a variety of delivery methods including design-build and also brings expertise in a wide range of market segments, many that parallel Gilbane’s current markets and others that present opportunities for future growth.
Mike is responsible for developing and executing the company’s strategic business plan. He directs the executive vice presidents and corporate senior vice presidents with ultimate accountability for profit and loss.
Prior to joining Gilbane, Mike was the chief delivery officer (CDO) of CH2M which had over 26,000 employees working on six continents prior to being acquired by Jacobs. He also served as executive vice president for all of CH2M’s U.S. Federal delivery. A member of CH2M’s Board of Directors, he was responsible for profit/loss and delivery for global regions (including the United States), global construction, global Operations and Maintenance and Strategic Consulting and served as director of corporate risk, safety, security, procurement, project controls, design and quality. During his 26 years there, he also served as president and group chief executive for the Government, Environment, Nuclear and Transportation divisions.
A registered architect, Mike holds a bachelor of science in environmental design from Oklahoma University and a bachelor of architecture from Louisiana Tech University. He is also a supporter of Meeting Street in Providence, Rhode Island where he serves as chairman of the Board of Trustees.
Rich Cavallaro's Bio
Rich Cavallaro is responsible for the firm’s management and strategic oversight of the New York and New England Divisions. An accomplished construction leader, Rich brings over 10 years of experience as a chief executive officer, most recently leading Skanska USA Civil. During his tenure, the business doubled in size and he succeeded in producing and executing some of the largest infrastructure projects in the country, while demonstrating his skills as a proven safety champion and business operations leader.
A 36-year veteran of the construction industry, Rich develops business operations built on the fundamental values of safety, diversity, innovation, operational excellence and corporate citizenship. He has global construction experience in diverse market sectors and expertise in a variety of delivery methods including design-build with efficiency, quality and safety as priorities.
Rich is a native New Yorker. He holds a bachelor of engineering degree from the City College of New York. Rich is active in supporting the industry and community. He is a former chairman of the New York Building Congress and former vice president of the New York General Contractors Association, and is currently a member of the Construction Industry Roundtable. He is a board member of the Family and Children’s Association and has been actively involved with the Guiding Eyes for the Blind for over 15 years.
Ryan E. Hutchins's Bio
Ryan E. Hutchins provides hands-on leadership to all of Gilbane’s business development teams, serves as the liaison to the executive management team on sales activities and is the executive liaison to the sales leader’s peer group. He administers the Gilbane University sales training program and is actively involved in business development manager recruitment and development. Ryan also directs the company’s marketing and corporate communications efforts.
With over 20 years at Gilbane, Ryan has held key operational and sales management roles. Prior to becoming executive vice president, he served as senior vice president of the New England Division. Throughout his career, he has raised the bar for quality in construction standards, bridged labor relations, championed minority participation and workforce strategies, and initiated new services. He has also been recognized for his industry and civic involvement that has included roles such as Children’s Trust Board Chair, Benjamin Franklin Institute of Technology Board Chair, Board Member of the New England Council and Board Member of the Boston Police Activities League. He was elected secretary of Wentworth Institute of Technology Board of Trustees and serves as the executive sponsor for Gilbane’s employee resource group, Gilbane Young Professionals.
Ryan earned a bachelor’s degree in construction management from Wentworth Institute of Technology and a master’s degree in Business Administration from Babson College. He also holds a MA Supervisors License and OSHA 30-Hour Certification.
Thomas M. Laird, Jr.'s Bio
Tom M. Laird, Jr. is responsible for the firm’s Mid-Atlantic, Southeast and Federal Divisions where his operational accountability includes profit and loss and ensuring the execution of the company’s ‘One Company’ vision, strategy and business plan. He also directs specialty services which include Transition Planning & Management and Facility Management Services.
Prior to becoming an executive vice president 2012, Tom served as senior vice president/regional manager for Gilbane’s Central Region where he led a six-state area that, during his tenure, experienced steady growth and was consistently ranked the #1 builder in Cleveland and Columbus and recognized as one of the area’s best places to work. He has an impressive portfolio of experience working with clients including the World Bank and the U.S. Capitol Visitor Center in Washington, D.C.; the Baltimore Convention Center, Baltimore, MD; the Cleveland Clinic Data Center, Cleveland Museum of Art, Flats East Bank Development, the University Hospitals’ Ahuja Medical Center, and Seidman Cancer Center, all in Cleveland, OH; and the Goodyear Tire & Rubber World Headquarters in Akron, OH.
Tom serves as board chairman for the ACE Mentor Program of Cleveland and in 2012 was the recipient of the Medical Mutual Pillar Award for Non-Profit Board Executive of the Year for his work with ACE. He also serves on the board of the Greater Cleveland Sports Commission, the Providence House and the Cuyahoga Community College Foundation. He is an active volunteer with Rebuilding Together Cleveland; a past member of the Finance Council at Holy Trinity Parish in Cleveland and a past board member and chairman of the Facilities Committee at Saint Joseph Academy in Cleveland. He also is on the Legacy Council at Providence House. Tom holds a bachelor’s degree in construction management from the University of Cincinnati and earned a master’s degree in real estate from Johns Hopkins University.
