Sage Therapeutics, a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company committed to the treatment of central nervous system (CNS) disorders, moved its sales team into the 6th floor of One Charles Park – an occupied building in Cambridge, MA. The 17,000sf space received minor renovations and was completely revamped in just 18-weeks by Erland and L Design to meet Sage’s needs. The new environment features an open-concept office layout with modern, high-end finishes and great views of the Charles River as well as huddle rooms, working pods and a balcony with outdoor seating. To minimize noise, acoustical wall and ceiling panels were installed throughout the space. The existing mechanicals were upgraded to support the new office layout as well as the addition of a kitchenette. The space requires all new lighting which was tied back into the existing electrical service. The design includes storefront partitions as well as an overhead garage door to segment private offices and conference rooms. One Charles Park is located on a heavily trafficked city block with minimal laydown area, limited building access, and delivery restrictions. Erland worked closely with the City of Cambridge to coordinate delivery and site logistics including the use of a crane and boom lift to transport drywall and the overhead garage door up to the 6th floor on a Sunday.
