Deborah Bradley's Bio
Deborah Bradley began her professional career as a Certified Public Accountant with Deloitte & Touche in Chicago and Denver before moving to New York City in 1990 to get her MBA from ColumbiaUniversity. In 1993, after leaving a corporate job in finance to start a family, she founded Deborah Bradley Construction one block from the University, her first client.
Deborah took full advantage of the training programs for women and minorities in contracting, andjoined many of the construction organizations geared toward women contractors and small businesses. She became a contractor in the New York City School Construction Authority Mentor program, and was one of the outstanding graduates winning many Public School and City contracts. She soon became established in the New York construction industry, dealing with major institutions such as Columbia University, the New York City School Construction Authority, and DASNY, andforming subconsulting and teaming arrangements with major Construction Management firms such as TDX Construction, STV, Turner Construction, Skanska USA and Jacobs Engineering.
DBC fought the bias against women in construction by sheer performance: learning all she could about the MWBE requirements of City, State and Federal contracting, developing her contacts, andradiating a will to succeed—despite the fact that women comprised only 3% of the constructionindustry. Today, her firm has grown from its modest beginnings to annual revenues of over $15 million.
As a business owner, a resident of Manhattan’s Upper West Side, and a proud mother of three, Deborah is committed to teaching and mentoring young women entering the construction industry as well as helping other small M/WBE firms grow and prosper. Deborah is also involved with a number ofadvocacy organizations in the construction industry, including the Regional Alliance of Small Contractors and the NYC Building Congress. She is also President of Women Builders Council andBoard member of Women Construction Owners & Executives
