Scope Of Work
Real estate developer Gravestar, Inc. wanted their new, 6,400 square foot office headquarters, located in a former loft warehouse in East Cambridge, to reflect and support its environmental and community values. The successful design/build solution that resulted from a collaborative effort included: a main lobby and reception area, "library," conference rooms, kitchen, bathrooms, copy room and offices. Innovative and environmentally-sustainable products such as bamboo millwork, cork floors and countertops containing recycled glass were incorporated into the renovation. The project also included a new building entry, painting and window replacement at the exterior of the entire building as well as the transformation of part of the roof into a habitable deck with full ADA-compliance.
The workspace design reflects Gravestar, Inc.'s cultural emphasis on sharing ideas and working collaboratively. The skylights over the common space provide ample natural light for those using the workstations, and each of the private offices have glass windows to the interior of the space, promoting an atmosphere of openness and transparency.
Gravestar, Inc. is submitting a LEED®-CI Silver application for its new headquarters to the U.S. Green Building Council®.
