Our Story

In 1965, Ben Newhouse founded our company as Illinois Time Recorder, with operations conducted from an office in North Aurora, IL. For over 20 years, ITR concentrated on time clocks, master clocks, and other time recording equipment. In 1989, the business was sold to Judy Neville, and the company moved to Lisle, IL.

Company President Jerry Neville came from a background of clock and fire alarm systems, having been the Regional Service Manager for Simplex. ITR soon expanded to include a systems division, becoming a factory-authorized distributor for Telecor intercom systems in 1991.

We grew our time & attendance management division by purchasing two separate competitors. In 1992, we purchased the Chicago branch office of Accutime Corporation. In 1996, we purchased Time Business, of Elmhurst, IL. In addition to broadening our customer base, we gained several excellent employees who are still with us today.

In 2004, ITR relocated to our current building in Downers Grove, IL to attain a much needed loading dock. Initially, we took up one office space but soon found ourselves expanding to a second space next door.

Our systems division has expanded over the years to encompass access control, video surveillance and intrusion detection systems, as well as local sound, wireless clock, and rescue assistance systems. We are an authorized dealer for over 20 different manufacturers.

After 44 years, we re-branded our company in 2009. The name “Illinois Time Recorder” was a good fit for our clock customers, but did not make sense, for example, to our fire alarm customers. We created a new logo and a new moniker: ITR Systems.

In 2014, in an effort to modernize our product offerings, ITR Systems sold our mechanical time clock division to Nextime in Oak Park, IL. We continue to offer the latest in software-based time and attendance management solutions and have employed additional staff to support these systems.

Today, we continue to operate out of our Downers Grove office. Patrick Neville serves as President, with Jerry Neville providing consulting services from time to time.
