Larry and Melissa Kemick have been building custom homes since 1987. The Kemicks quickly tapped into a segment of the market that was being generally ignored by the industry at the time. The concept of building “energy efficient” custom homes and combining that with an “everything is included” specification package, allowed them to carve out a niche in the marketplace and become a national leader in energy efficient construction and design. For several years Kemick’s homes were selected for study and remote monitoring by the National Association of Homebuilders in an effort to determine the most effective ways to influence new energy codes along with designing and building these homes. The Kemicks were the first builders in the State of Florida to use or make standard products like radiant barrier plywood, solar hot water heaters, on demand hot water recirculation systems, and expanding foam insulation systems. The addition of Gina Debbs to the team in 2003 with her extensive background in design, sales and marketing, took the Kemicks to the next level in luxury design and appointments and sales volume went through the roof. At the height of the market this team was producing about 100 energy efficient custom homes per year for satisfied homeowners and investors
