My commitment to building started at a young age. As a third
generation carpenter, I have
worked alongside my father and
grandfather since I was 12 years old. Over the last three decades, my
father and I have worked closely with the city’s most recognized
high-end homebuilders, including Ambassador Construction and Rick Standard.
After studying Communications at the University of Kansas, I returned
to KC and launched a small side business to supplement my work with my
father. In seven years, exclusively through word of mouth, I went from
deck repair and window replacement to building my first custom home.
This experience cemented my belief that highly functional, carefully
designed, low-to-no maintenance homes would be the wave of the future
in Kansas City.
My frustration with “cookie-cutter” home design and “traditional”
building techniques pushed me to find something better. In my pursuit,
I discovered Passive House, the strictest energy and quality standard
for construction in the world. Focused on innovative framing
techniques and superior building envelope, Passive House creates
premium indoor air quality and a 90% reduction in energy use. I
believe these homes will fill the need for high design, high
performance living that the people of Kansas City demand.
I realize that all projects may not be suitable for Passive House. I
do however leverage my experience and expertise to ensure all projects
are thoughtfully designed and crafted, whether it is a bath remodel or
a custom home.
I am a Licensed General Contractor and Certified Passive House
Consultant. I am also an active member of the Construction Technology
Advisory Board at Kansas City Kansas Community College. My passions in
life outside of building include Crossfit, playing Kansas City
Ultimate Frisbee, wakeboarding, snowboarding, and music.
