A coastal city in South Texas, Corpus Christi has experienced steady growth and an increasing need for water. The City of Corpus Christi selected consulting engineering firm Freese and Nichols, Inc., to find a water storage solution.  After considering available alternatives, Freese and Nichols specified an AWWA D110 Type III wire-wound prestressed concrete tank because of its structural integrity, low cost of ownership, and long-term durability. Preload, with more than 80 years of experience designing and constructing prestressed concrete tanks, was selected as the preferred tank builder.

Built in 1999, this 7.5 MG Preload tank towers at a 50’ side water depth and 160’ inside diameter. In addition, the tank features architectural enhancements of accented pilasters and dome ring. Preload is proud to have provided the City of Corpus Christi with a durable, yet aesthetically pleasing, tank with a long life span and negligible maintenance.
