Scope Of Work

KPH Construction was enlisted to provide a +16,000 sq ft pre-engineered, insulated storage facility to be used as garage for the Kenosha County Sheriff’s Dept.  The facility would serve to house in-doors several of the Sheriff’s Dept. fleet vehicles, provide additional exterior vehicle storage, and a secure investigation area.  Located just east, behind the Kenosha County Detention Center, the structure was nestled against adjacent swamp, while preserving the surrounding wetland and wildlife.  All aspects of the project were designed and engineered through Kueny Architects, with the exception of the pre-engineered building, which was specified as a system by concept to be integrated with the balance of the project (foundation and site plan).  Originally slated for spring of 2017, the project broke ground in late June 2017 due to delays in permitting.  However, once underway, KPH maintained a firm schedule and achieved Substantial Completion on January 22, 2018

KPH overcame several challenges on this project, largely surrounding weather and its effects on the construction process.  The surrounding swamp-like terrain, combined with an unseasonably rainy Fall 2017 made for challenges in achieving lasting subgrade compaction.  KPH handled several change orders during this project, largely consisting of Owner directed design changes, removal/replacement of unsuitable soils as a result of unseasonable rainy Fall 2017.
