Scope Of Work

With combined philanthropic and City funding, 12 acres within Houston’s CBD were combined to ensure this park would become a reality. TGE was selected to serve as the Conservancy’s sole environmental consultant. With its diverse historical use, urban core setting, and overall project size, contaminant source areas were found within the pathway of construction. TGE leveraged geoscience and engineering capability with extensive institutional knowledge during the removal of 11 “ghost” tanks, multiple buried structures/vessels, and environmentally impacted media. TGE preserved resources and minimized risk for this high visibility/risk-averse client.  Creative strategies included expedited affected property delineation, recycling of tens of thousands of tons of impacted soil, in-situ treatment of materially-impacted soil/groundwater, negotiated (permitted) groundwater dewatering/discharge, and monitored natural attenuation.  All work was rigorously scheduled, unobtrusive, and timely; TGE applied its multiple service lines and vendor relationships to deliver a solutions-based outcome with minimal outsourcing, and a clean case closure result.
