Scope Of Work
The problem: the ceiling at the main dairy production room was over 40 years old, a plaster-based surface which was not up to modern standards. After 40-plus years and many coats of paint, the ceiling began to
sag and tear. Production would certainly have to be suspended for 2 months while the surface was abated, removed, and resurfaced. NOT AN OPTION.
The solution: we were able to fasten sheets of polypropylene through the plaster, attaching them directly to the studs with special fasteners. This enabled us to encapsulate the surface without exposing any employees or products to the dangers associated with these hazardous surfaces. We then thermal welded all of the sheets together to form a seamless ceiling surface. The natural brightness of the plastic combined with new energy saving light fixtures we added really brightened up the room. The real beauty is that we did all of this during production. We were able to safely scaffold around all of their production equipment and work 20 feet above them, while they were in full production beneath us. Now they have a surface that they’ll never have to paint, saving them more money and down-time in the future.
