Our Story

Thrifty Iron Works, Inc. was established in 1963 by founder Allen B. Thrift, who started the business by making clothesline poles at night while working as a draftsman for a local iron works company by day. As the demand for iron increased, he made the decision in 1965 to focus his efforts full-time on building the Company. In the early days, the nature of the work was mostly residential, but over time, the primary focus has moved to a commercial market. In 1990, the company was purchased by Allen’s children (Richard, Karen, and Alan) who have grown the business significantly over the past quarter century. The company was built on the principles of honesty, integrity and fairness to our customers and this vision still continues today.

Our work is done predominantly in-house, with the use of very few subcontractors. Our list of projects includes work on many various types of structures, including:
