The Blue Book of Building and Construction Enhances its Bid Management System with New Features, Functionality and Savings for Industry Users
Westchester, N.Y. The Blue Book of Building and Construction announced today that it has made additional enhancements to BB-Bid, the company’s free online bid-management system. Based on feedback from owners, architects and general contractors who use the service, The Blue Book has enhanced reporting features in BB-Bid, and now provides a total of 11 different format options for tracking and managing projects throughout the bidding stage. In addition, earlier this year, The Blue Book integrated an industry leading take-off tool into the BB-Bid Private Online Plan Room, which allows free hosting, viewing and downloading of project plans and specifications.
BB-Bid allows users to message invitations to bid and requests for quote to their private vendors as well as those in The Blue Book’s industry leading database of subcontractors, suppliers and manufacturers. Messages can be sent at no charge via email or standard fax. The Blue Book offers a Priority Fax option as well.
As of this publication, project activity for 2006 has increased 44% from 2005 and an average of 250,000 messages are being sent through the BB-Bid network each week. BB-Bid’s growth and increase in messaging has allowed The Blue Book to take advantage of bulk rates for their Priority Fax service - and pass the savings on to BB-Bid users. The per page charge for Priority Fax Messaging has decreased 50% from 12 cents to 6 cents one of the lowest in the industry. Email and Standard Fax Messaging options remain free of charge.
“As the Product Manager of BB-Bid, I have the greatest job in the construction industry” explains Ed Haege, BB-Bid Product Manager. The Blue Book continues to provide my department with unlimited resources to build the best bid management system…and mandates that we keep it free to use! That action speaks volumes to The Blue Book’s commitment to continuously improve project communication and make it more efficient and effective for everyone.”
