Since being named President & CEO of Horst Construction in 2008, Mr. Scheid has built upon his 35+ years of experience in the construction industry to provide leadership, vision, and guidance to the Horst team. Harry manages his team to maintain professional/ethical business practices that align with our core values. He has served multiple roles for Horst Construction since joining the company in 1987, bringing substantial experience and creativity to the table in working with all facets of construction. Harry is personally involved in providing executive support to Horst clients and leading Horst’s multi-disciplinary teams to build exceptional environments.

Ken Fetterolf brings over 30 years’ experience in the commercial construction industry to his role as Vice President of Horst Construction. Throughout his career, Ken has worked in both field and office operations roles to successfully manage the construction of all building types in all of Horst’s market sectors. He is skilled in managing projects under the Design / Build, Construction Management, and General Contracting contract scenarios. Ken provides executive leadership throughout all phases of each Horst project, encompassing preconstruction planning and design with the client and project team, to construction feasibility and monitoring cost and schedule, through the obtainment of the Certificate of Occupancy. Ken is committed to providing our clients a construction process that responds to their needs, values their resources, performs effectively, and provides them with an exceptional final product.

Steve Smith is the Chief Estimator of Horst Construction and draws upon nearly 20 years of experience in the commercial construction industry. Steve’s leadership of the estimating department includes guiding all efforts to accurately budget, bid, and negotiate projects in every Horst market segment. Steve implements best practices, procedures and process for the estimating department to ensure our clients received a resourceful and dependable estimate. He ensures that the estimating team listens and clearly communicates the programming needs of our client when developing scopes of work for our negotiated projects. Steve also leads his team to prepare cost saving or value enhancement alternate suggestions for clients to consider whenever possible throughout our estimating process.

Brad is the Business Relationships Manager for Horst Construction, where he is responsible for nurturing and growing client and partner relationships across multiple market sectors. With over a decade of experience in the construction industry and extensive knowledge related to construction projects, Brad offers insight and guidance to our clients by getting to know their individual needs and goals. Through a relationship-oriented approach, Brad helps navigate the construction process to ensure positive outcomes for our clients. Brad and his team work closely with our clients and partners to provide information, as well as planning tools, that are helpful during the early stages of a project. Brad then follows the client journey throughout the project’s duration to provide leadership, support, and ultimately client satisfaction.

In addition to working with existing clients and partners, Brad is the champion of Horst’s efforts to connect with new and potential clients and partners. Brad cultivates marketing activity and provides oversight to the proposal and interview process.

Rick is a registered architect with over 28 years' experience in design and construction. His specialty is Master Planning and Design-Build projects for churches, having been involved in the planning, expansion, and renovation of over 150 institutions. Rick's passion is bringing a church's vision to reality. He works intently with building committees to listen to their vision, evaluate their programming needs, and create schematic diagrams that offer options to consider, while keeping with the original intentions of the committee. 

As the director of Special Construction Services for Horst Construction, Ryan manages projects requiring quick turnover, limited budgets, and occupied facilities. Ryan leads his team to deliver the high quality, responsive, and cost-effective solutions our clients have come to expect of Horst. Ryan has more than 20 years in the construction industry and is an experienced listener of our clients’ programming needs, translating this information into a scope of work which fulfills their requirements, and offering unique solutions to potential problems and ways to maximize their budgets. Ryan and his team work closely with our clients to prioritize their building needs and determine a systematic approach for accomplishing their maintenance and facility goals.
