40,000 square foot executive retreat and resort facility. The lodge consists of a drilled pier/slab-on-grade foundation, a steel and wood structural frame system, a stone masonry facade, a standing metal seam/built-up roof system, an aluminum framed glazing system, and a chilled-water HVAC system. Interior finish-out of the project included 32 guest rooms, three executive suites, three one bedroom suites and one presidential suite, two dining rooms, gourmet kitchen facility, swimming pool and spa. Finishes include wood flooring, carpet, stone countertops, and custom millwork. One of the most unusual aspects of the design and construction of this project was the arched glue-lam walkway supports carrying a curve gallvalum barreled roof. Use of these materials created an expensive appearing architectural feature when in fact the cost was very economical. In addition, all the windows at the lodge were custom-made wood windows of the highest quality where very few were similar in size and dimension. To add privacy to the lodge, a 1,000 foot long and 15 foot high wall was constructed of native limestone to match limestone used on a portion of the main building. Another unusual aspect of this project was a ceiling plenum that varied from 10 inches to 18 inches. Thus, a challenge to coordinate the ductwork, electrical, plumbing, and lighting systems within this space. The mechanical subcontractor developed a detailed set of HVAC ductwork set of shop drawings that included the overlay of electrical, lighting systems, speaker locations, cam lights, and fire protection. The entire combination of the high quality finishes using exterior native materials, gave the lodge a sense of medieval to contemporary European mix.
